Archiving in an institutional repository

An institutional repository is a repository of electronic publications managed by an academic institution, such as a university or research institute, which aims to collect, preserve and disseminate research work produced by members of the institution. Institutional repositories make it possible to centralize an institution's output, increase the visibility of its scientific work and guarantee long-term access to documents.

Réflexion is HEC Montréal's institutional repository.

''Réflexion is the open access portal to HEC Montréal's scientific production. Once a document can be legally shared via open access, you will find it here. Documents that aren't openly available are also listed in the repository.''

  • The works submitted to Réflexion are indexed by the Google Scholar search engine.

Archiving in a thematic repository

A thematic repository is a repository of electronic publications, generally managed by research communities or professional organizations, which collects and disseminates research documents in a specific discipline such as administration. Thematic repositories make it possible to group work from various institutions around the world according to a theme, to encourage collaboration and the sharing of research results, and to offer greater visibility for research and researchers in a specific field.

Publication in an open-access journal

Publication in an Open Access journal means that scientific articles are published in such a way as to be immediately and freely accessible to all, without restriction, while maintaining copyright. Publication in an Open Access journal may be free of charge for authors (diamond route), or publishers may charge authors a publication fee to cover production and distribution costs (gold route). Publication in an open-access journal makes it possible to disseminate research results more widely, increase the researcher's visibility and impact , and promote the transparency and reuse of scientific knowledge
