A growing number of research funding agencies and scientific publications are asking researchers to manage their research data in an exemplary way, to preserve it and make it accessible wherever possible. To this end, Canada's three research funding agencies (SSHRC, NSERC and CIHR) have adopted a statement that funding recipients are invited to read.
However, good research data management enables research teams to establish a common basis for avoiding problems such as data loss, unauthorized communication of sensitive information or transfer problems between team members.
