Covidence - English

Introduction

Covidence is an online platform that simplifies the analysis and selection of articles for systematic or other types of comprehensive reviews: scoping reviews; umbrella reviews; meta-analysis; etc.

The research team determines the project parameters and criteria used to :

  1. Import bibliographic references from article databases.
  2. Decide whether or not to keep each article based on the title and abstract.
  3. Obtain the text of the remaining articles and evaluate their quality and relevance.
  4. Extract all the analyzed references in different formats.

Although Covidence is mostly used by teams of researchers to improve collaboration, it can very well be used for a solo research project.

An overview of the process

  • Importing of bibliographic references in Covidence.
  • Removal of duplicates (this step can be done beforehand in EndNote or Zotero).
  • First evaluation based on the titles and abstracts of articles to detect irrelevant results.
  • Second evaluation based on the full text of the articles selected in the previous step.
  • Creation of a Prisma diagram.
  • Data extraction and quality assessment of the studies.
